Life - LSD

Posted by Jerry Senear on September 30, 1998 at 06:24:02:

I have never used Ketamine but I have used LSD on a number of occasions. My LSD experimenting took place in the 1960s. I would like to point out that there is a vast difference between my "LSD Experiences" and my "Spiritual Light Experience". At no time, while using LSD, did I not realize that I was under the influence of a powerful mind altering drug. The Light Experience is a completely different thing. The Light is external to the mind and body. Its origins are not biologically caused. Dr. Morse and other researchers believe that the truly unique component of the NDE is the powerful all loving Light. If the Light is external to the Human Being, then it stands to reason, that it is not a phenomenon that can be replicated by electrical or chemical stimuli. In my opinion this is immensely important for researchers to keep in mind when studying NDE˙s and related phenomenon. I believe that the temporal lobe might be the receptor site by which the Light communicates with us. But the Light is external. It is a power unto itself. It communicates with us when It wishes to, and although some people might be more receptive to the Light than others, it still remains true that the Light chooses us. We do not choose the Light.

Robert:
:"Of course you realized the cause as LSD, since you knew you had taken the drug. Had you not had this knowledge your interpretation might have been much different."

:Thats quite possible. I did know I was taking LSD. I served in the Army Medical Corps from 1964-1966. During this time I had occasion to treat people under the influence of LSD. A few of those cases had to do with people that took LSD unbeknownst to them. In every case they attributed their symptoms and anxiety to having ingested something. One girl thought she had eaten tainted food and that was causing her symptoms. Another thought it was because he mixed alcohol with antihistamine. There are spiritual aspects to the LSD experience but causation is almost always attributed to the awareness of having ingested something.

:"All you are talking about here seems to be your subjective experience and the interpretation you have made of it with nothing offered to objectively substantiate your claim of an external cause.":

You are correct in taking me to task on this. I should have said, "From my experience, I believe the Light to be external to the human being". The Light is my area of expertise but my expertise is anecdotal in nature. Over the years I have talked with and interviewed many people who have experienced the Light. All believe that the Light was external to them. Scientific research needs to be done in this area and I am a strong supporter of same. I am interested in the mechanism that enables interaction with the Light. Be it physiological or spiritual or both; bring on the research.
