Tibetan Book of Death

I've been forced into this subject by the loss of my child.
I've never been religious, spiritual, only materialistic
and quite shallow. To help overcome the grief I was
introduced to The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, and
from there found a link to Dr. Morse and NDE.
If you haven't read this book you should. I was amazed
that a religion formed 2,500 years ago could so closely
interpret the NDE, in particular the similarities between
the "garden" and beautiful colours.
I'm reading the Phoenix Fire Mystery at the moment and found
close associations with the Egyptian Book of the Dead (they
actively participated in NDE life "flatliners"). It's such
a shame that with all this evidence around us, and a legacy
of Eastern religions, we have been brought up to believe in
science for all the answers. It told me what my daughter
died of, but couldn't explain the process of death - little
consolation to a parent left with so many questions.
If anyone else has religious insights, I'd like to hear
about them - thanks.
Dear Dean,
Sogyal Rimpoche wrote an excellent book attempting to bring Tibetan wisdom on the dying process, called the Tibetan
book of Living and Dying.Check it out.
I am endlessly fascinated at the direct correlations between the Tibetan book of the Dead, and insights from children who
have had NDEs.
They both speak of a light of pure reality, or as children put it "realer than real". They both make it clear that 95% of the
visions of the dying are visions from within our own consciousness and life, what the Tibetans called Bardos, we, of course,
call hallucinations of the dying.
By the way, your joke was very rude, but we are not politically correct on this message board, and anyway I haven't figured
out how to remove it! Lucky for you I was raised Jewish, and thought it was funny.
Thanks a lot for the insights you have shared. I wonder if you can tell us about spiritual visions or insights you have had
surrounding your daughter's death?
