Meet Dr. Morse

I'm a pediatrician and neuroscientist who has studied the near death experiences (NDEs) of children since 1980 (see my professional and personal history). I've learned that the final moments of life are not frightening or horrible. In my studies, I have learned the secret to finding happiness in our own lives as well as the mysteries of life after death.

When we die, we become fully conscious, aware of our surroundings, and experience spiritual insights we do not often have at other times in our lives.

The real meaning of these experiences is not to teach us about life after death, but how to use this area of the brain to find happiness in our lives.

By studying the neuroscience of the near death experience, we learn that human beings have an underused area of the brain which is responsible for spiritual intuitions, paranormal abilities such as telepathy and remote viewing, and the power to heal not only the soul, but the body as well.

As a young critical-care physician I started to listen to children’s stories of what it was like to die and return. My research ultimately led to my discovery of our God Spot, our biological link with an interactive universe.

My mission is to:

  1. Share the many child and adult near death experiences that I’ve investigated over the past fifteen years. Their stories teach us how to heal grief and understand death. The stories unlock the secrets of mind-body healing, paranormal abilities, intuition training, and angel encounters.
  2. Understand whether NDEs are real or are they some sort of hallucination or mental safety net. I will present scientific studies which will address this issue.
  3. Create a dialogue with my readers (or provoke it if need be) by presenting your questions, experiences, critiques of my theories or presentation of your thoughts on science and spirituality.
  4. Be a source of correspondence and reference information for the scientific community.
  5. Fund my own near death research, with the proceeds from this website.

I seek nothing less than a complete obliteration of the tired “skeptic” vs. “believer” debate which has dominated near death research so far. Instead of promoting true scientific inquiry, the so-called skeptics use the science of the nineteenth century in an attempt to debunk the spiritual philosophies of the eighteenth century.

This is nothing less than second rate scientists debating second rate mysticism, and both sides are at least twenty years out of date. My newsletter is dedicated to creating a new scientific and mystical paradigm based on the scientific advances of the past 20 years. I am extremely proud that my newsletter, which is 8 years out of date, has been vindicated by scientific advances in the past few years.

For example, one of the most controversial claims that I make in the newsletter is that the out of body experience is "real" (meaing it a normal brain experience) and yet nothing leaves the body. In 2006, scientists in both Sweden and Switzerland have been able to produce the out of body experience in the laboratory, by "tricking" the mind by presenting it with conflicting sensory data. Subjects were conscious during the experiments, aware that they were not really out of their bodies during these induced out of body perceptions, and felt in control of the experience.

Both of these studies substantiate my earlier speculatons that the out of body experience involves the perception of this reality from an altered point of view. We once again learn science from children! A child once told me of his out of body experience: Well it was like floating out of my body, but it was also like walking into my mind". Both of these studies were published in the August 24th edition of Science (2007).

On the philosophical side of the new debate that supports the new paradigm, Dan Brown presents The Death of Faith in his book of the same title. Dr. Brown reaches the same conclusions as I do from the other end of the intellectual spectrum. He is a philosopher who is now becoming a neuroscientist.

This is the best example of the New Paradigm that I have before me. As you read the Newsletter, you will see how a Federal Aviation Authority Flight Surgeon, a philosopher turned Neuroscientist, and a Pediatrician from Georgetown, Delaware all reach the same conclusion that we need a new philosophy based on the new scientific understandings of the 21st Century.

I reread my newsletter at the time of the update of this website (November 2007) and I still find it to be 20 years ahead of our times. As the website update continues, I will keep you informed of more research that supports what I wrote almost a decade ago.

Finally, I am counting on you, skeptical and intellectually rigorous reader, to either call attention to studies which prove or disprove assertions in the newsletter. In January, 2008, I will come out with a newsletter update that will summarize all of the contributions (both yours and mine) and the insights of the past nine years.

Current Projects:

All of the proceeds from sales from this web site will go to furthering my near death research. I will demonstrate that modern physics, evolutionary biology, cosmology, and mathematics combine with near death experiences to create an entirely new scientific paradigm and understanding of our biological link with the universe.

My current projects that are being funded are:

The Effects of Near Death Experiences on the Immune System:

I'm attempting to find a biological marker for the near death experience, and to understand how having a spiritual experience can heal cancers or auto-immune disorders.

The Power of Spiritual Visions to Heal Grief

We must learn how to use spiritual insights and visions to support the grief experienced by parents who have lost a child, or anyone struggling to understand the death of someone they love.

A How-to Manual to Understand
Our Right Temporal Lobe:

I am developing a practical manual to teach people how to use the area of our brain linked to near death experiences. We evolved our brains about 200,000 years ago, and it came without an owners manual. We have many residual or unused talents such as remote viewing, telepathy, healing touch, and weak telekinetic abilities which are linked to this same brain area. Anyone can learn to use this latent area of our brain and have spiritual and near death experiences.

When you purchase my books and newletter reprints, you will be directly contributing to cutting edge near death research. I am not promoting any religion or spiritual philosophy. I can, however, help you to find your own spiritual faith and understand what religion means for you.
